Ziele und Inhalt des Kurses: Transatlantic relations are undergoing profound change. The seminar examines the political, security, economic, and societal ties between Europe, the United States, and Canada. It focuses on the redistribution of responsibility within the alliance, European defence, new security domains, economic and technological dependencies, and differing approaches to regional and global challenges. Students learn to analyse transatlantic positions comparatively, distinguish among different European actors, formulate robust research questions, and develop independent arguments from appropriate sources. Historical foundations are connected to ongoing debates on NATO, trade, technology, current conflicts, energy, and multilateralism.
